5 Ways to Update Your Garden

If you’ve been looking forward to the warmer, sunnier days all winter, then now is the time to get excited. Summer is just around the corner, and as temperatures rise and everything is getting a bit brighter, this is the perfect time to start getting your garden ready. If you would like to give your outdoor space a bit of a refresh this year, here are five ways you can update your garden.

1. A New Patio or Deck

If the paving for your garden’s patio is cracked or has lost its luster, you might want to consider getting it replaced. Areas of patio help to break up the garden and are perfect for placing your garden furniture on as it’s much sturdier than uneven lawns. Alternatively, if you’re not keen on patios, you can always have a deck installed. These are just as good and can look even better in country homes or properties on the coast. Call decking experts like the Fence and Deck Depot for advice and installation.

2. Add a Water Feature

Another great way to spruce up your garden is by adding a water feature. You could build a pond in the middle or corner of your garden and fill it with fish, or turn it into a haven for other wildlife. If you love the soothing sound of running water, you could always get a smaller water feature if you would prefer. There are plenty of beautiful designs to choose from, so finding something that suits your taste and the rest of your garden’s aesthetics shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.

3. Gazebo or Pergola

These are lovely additions to any garden and are perfect for setting-up your garden sofas or dining tables underneath. A gazebo usually comes with a full roof so it can offer sheltered outdoor seating for when you might get caught in a light shower. A pergola doesn’t usually come with a roof, but you can put plastic or metal sheeting across the top if you want to. Both structures look beautiful with some vines and climbing plants hanging from the sides and across the top.

4. A Summerhouse

This is another solution for sheltered seating outdoors, but it can also be a bit more comfortable than a gazebo because it has walls and a door you can close when the weather is cooler. A summerhouse could be the perfect spot to enjoy your morning cup of coffee, or where you can entertain guests late into the summer evening while everyone stays warm and comfortable. It can also be used as additional storage for your garden furniture during the winter months.

5. New Garden Furniture

If you have had your current garden furniture for years, why not treat yourself to a new set this summer? It’s one of the simplest ways to update your outdoor space and could boost your comfort when you’re lounging about in the sun or dining al fresco. Whether it’s a small bistro set or a table that seats 10, a brand-new garden furniture set could be the best thing you buy all year.

If you want to update your garden and get it ready for this summer, consider the options above and see how they could transform it.
