Outlook for iOS

As long-time Apple tribe member I have sworn off Microsoft for a while now, I think the last time I used anything from Microsoft was 6-7 years ago, but that might change from today…

Outlook for iPhone could be the start of a beautiful relationship. It looks fresh and clean. Not too trendy either. It syncs with exchange server, and you have email and calendar in one app. I don’t think this was a big deal, but with a few clicks, you can highlight available times on your calendar and insert a list into the body of your email. It’s super easy.

Outlook supports Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, Yahoo! Mail and Gmail, as well as most other email providers. It allows you to send attachments through many cloud services, including Microsoft’s own OneDrive, as well as Dropbox and others. Similar to most modern email apps, the new Outlook apps now also support various swipe gestures, which you can customize to your need.

The new application is based on the technology Microsoft acquired when it bought the email app Acompli for $200 million last year, so it’s no surprise that the Outlook apps look and feel quite a bit like the original Acompli apps though.
