Essentials That Your Home First Aid Kit Needs to Have

There are a number of things that you need in your home. A lot of these items may well revolve around leisure and your personal life; however, other items that you should have come with a completely practical application. One of these items is a first aid kit. If you are doing a lot of DIY or just for general accidents that can happen around the house, it’s important that you have a good quality first aid kit on site that you can use to tend to any injuries that might occur. That being said, it’s one thing knowing that you need a first aid kit, but another thing entirely knowing what you should put in there. This guide aims to help you with that.

Get An Appropriate Box

If there is an accident in your home and you find yourself in need of any of the below items, then it is important you are able to find them quickly. One of the most effective ways you can do this is by purchasing an empty first aid box. These are excellent when it comes to keeping everything in a neat and tidy order, as they have shelves in them and different compartments so that you can easily separate items and know exactly where to look in a time of emergency.

With your box, bag, or first aid storage sorted, you can move on to filling it up.

Bandages and Cleaning Supplies

Some of the most common injuries that are likely to happen in your home include the likes of cuts, burns, and scrapes. As such, it is important that you have the right equipment which you can use to address these different injuries right away. Some of the best supplies include the likes of different bandages and cleaning supplies. These include adhesive bandages, gauze pads, roller bandages, hydrogen peroxide, antibiotic ointment, and latex gloves.

A Thermometer

What is considered a ‘normal body temperature’ can vary throughout the day, but if you or a loved one have a temperature that is abnormally high, then this could mean that there is illness present. When you keep a thermometer present, you are making it much easier to spot different illnesses and treat them accordingly. If you or your family member has a fever, you can properly sit down and think about how you would like to proceed.

Standard Medication

If you get a headache, muscle pain, or some kind of inflammation and stomach pain, then it is a good idea to have some medication present that you will be able to use to treat it. This medication includes the likes of paracetamol, ibuprofen, throat lozenges, cold medication, and laxatives. These are not difficult to get a hold of as all of them can be purchased over the counter, so simply head to your local pharmacy and stock up so that you have a home first aid kit that is ready to tend to common illnesses.

Remember to refill these items as often as you can so you never run out.
