There are two types of people in this world—those of us who love cooking and those of us who hate it. For the rest of us, there’s hardly very much in between; we typically tend to fall on one extreme or the other. 

The good news is if you hate cooking you’re not alone. Many people see cooking time as a downright chore, and something painful they’re forced to do. However, by how much you might hate cooking, the good news is that you can actually make it something you enjoy. That’s right, it can be fast, easy, and maybe even fun. Here are some tips for people who hate cooking.

Get The Right Gear

You wouldn’t want to build a house with nothing more than a hammer and nails, would you? This would be a long and arduous process, and take a million years! So why would you do the equivalent in the kitchen? 

Giving yourself the right cooking tools, from buying a high-quality oven, to equipping yourself with an air fryer and a slow cooker will make cooking just a little bit easier. Sometimes it’s just a matter of equipping yourself with the right things on hand so that you can make things go much faster. 

Tools like pressure cookers can reduce your cooking time, and give you a more hands-off approach. It’s as simple as setting it and forgetting it which is much easier than having to watch and stir a boiling pot. 

The truth is there are all sorts of tools out there if you educate yourself, so get to know a few different ones, and don’t be afraid to splurge. If cooking time is truly something you can’t stand, then why not treat yourself to some tools that make it much easier?

Keep Recipes Simple

It’s easy to get carried away when finding recipes. After all, you may feel really inspired when you’re scrolling through TikTok and find things that look delicious and seemingly simple to make. 

However, if you already have a strong dislike for cooking, and you add a complex recipe on top of your dislike, you’re going to find yourself struggling when it’s time to make a meal. Stick to simple recipes like sheet pan dinners or simple stir-fries. The simpler you keep it with the least amount of ingredients, the less likely you are to burn out before the meal is even finished.

Batch Cook

One of the biggest complaints that people have about cooking is that it takes so long. If it’s something you find yourself having to do every day, then it’s no wonder why you get burnt out!

That’s why batch cooking can be a great way to cut down your cooking time since you only cook once or twice a week rather than daily. It’s as simple as making big batches of things like pasta or grilled chicken and vegetables and eating leftovers over the next few days. Otherwise, you can freeze your food and simply thaw it whenever you’re too lazy to make your meal.
