White Cave House is a gorgeous minimalist home by Takuro Yamamoto Architects located in Kanazawa, Japan. The name derives from the design phase whereby the architects would remove pieces from the blank-slate of the home until they were finally happy.
What sets this meticulously designed residential home apart from the others is its use of white – both exterior and interior – and the way it allows light to reflect from the inner courtyard into the surrounding rooms of the home. The open spaces are bathed in a natural light that adds to the relaxed atmosphere the architecture presents.
The white colour scheme successfully highlights and enhances the wooden finishes of the furniture through contrast while at the same time adding dimension to the home’s sparsely decorated rooms.
