7 Surprising Reasons You’re Stressed Out

Most people are all too aware of the major stress sources in their lives, some of which include money, a long work commute, noisy neighbors and a long list of others. Wouldn’t it be nice if we were all able to mediate with deep focus, practice yoga, and relax in the best massage chair possible for immediate stress relief whenever we needed?

Even more reason to look into a massage chair is the fact that stress and anxiety don’t just come from obvious or even negative sources. The surprising reasons below for being stressed out could be low-grade challenges that don’t overwhelm you in the moment, but are indeed impacting your body and mind.

Here are 7 unexpected reasons why you may be stressed and in need of a massage.

1.) Other People’s Stress

Stress is contagious. When someone around you is worried, you might tend to worry too. This is because of a thing called mirror neurons in which your emotions mimic any emotion that you come across. Envisioning something you love or something that makes you laugh prior to entering a stressful situation or environment can keep this phenomenon at bay.

2.) Social Media

Social media can make you more aware of what’s going on in your friends’ lives. But if they are having a stressful situation and are broadcasting it on Facebook, this can add more stress to your life. Also, social media can be associated with negative body image and prolonged breakup pain because all sorts of information, whether you want it or not, is constantly at your fingertips.

3.) Distractions

Sometimes distractions can be a good thing to take your mind off of a situation. But if you’re busy thinking about something else, then you might not be able to enjoy what’s going on around you. Being present in your surroundings and staying grounded is proven to lower stress levels. This is why meditation has become so prevalent.

4.) Your Expectations

When things don’t go as planned and you either get upset or roll with the punches, your mindset is being victimized. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t set ambitious goals, but being realistic about what’s truly possible is important in keeping stressors properly managed.

5.) Multi-Tasking

Thinking you are saving time by multi-tasking could actually mean the opposite due to the increase in stress that multi-tasking brings. Instead, make a list and check off each task as you complete it. This action tends to give people a sense of accomplishment in completing the little things and improves productivity overall.

6.) Your Favorite Sport

The body can’t register good stress from bad stress. So when watching your favorite team play, keep in mind your body is releasing adrenaline and reducing blood flow to the heart. These temporary consequences are nothing to worry about, but overtime high stress levels could lead to high blood pressure.

7.) Digital Devices

Spending too much time on computer devices may make real-life interactions extra stressful. Using devices near bedtime has also shown to lead to sleep problems.

By recognizing these reasons you may be feeling stressed and walking away with a few tips, you can now hopefully better understand, prepare and cope with these sneaky stressors that come up in life.
