Nick Cobby‘s music video for Fragments of Self – a collaboration between Max Hooper and Tom Hodge – is a visual feast that combines organic, pulsating shapes with geometric edges set to a lulling piano melody and hectic glitch loop.
What starts out looking like ink being dropped into water, quickly becomes a concentric dance as pillars pulsate and send forth tendrils into a vacant space to combine and reform. This is interspersed with the erratic, jagged editing of angular shapes crashing into one another over a glitch beat.
It all sounds very busy but the design is simplistic enough to let the visuals breathe, allowing us to concentrate on both video and melody.
