Fishpond City Xi’an

Fishpond City Xi’an by Raoul Bukor and Christian Lindle represents an urban area in the densely populated district of Xi’an, China. It charts the future development of the district with the varied aquariums depicting buildings and the goldfish, us. This imagined city block of the future has multi-storied buildings, skyscrapers, and even a parkland strip on its grid.

The goldfish has cultural significance for the people of China in that it represents fertility and good luck.

The installation included:  56 glass boxes, 8.300 litres of water, 1500 goldfish, 29 multicolor LEDs, 3.400 litres of filtration material.
