How to Get Your Home Ready For Spring

April showers bring May flowers, and Spring brings fresher air to your home and a whole new outlook on life. Now that Spring is fast approaching, it’s time to get your home ready! You don’t have to be an interior designer or a renovation expert to make your house ready for the new season. Here’s how you can get your home ready for Spring.

Bring in Flowers

If your Springs aren’t as warm as you’d like them to be and can’t stand having the window open all day, flowers are a great way to welcome Spring into your house. If you don’t like opening the windows, or it’s still too cold out to do so, you can still bring the outdoors inside with Easter flowers. A nice flower arrangement is a perfect way to say that you’re ready for the new season and welcome the flowers and greenery back from a cold, dreary winter.

Flowers not only produce a gentle, mood-lifting aroma, but they make great centerpieces for any end table and look great in every room, including the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, and dining room.

Change Your Color Tones

Take a look around your house. The odds are that during the winter, you somehow accumulated darker colored drapes, bedding, blankets, and more. Winter is a season where even your wardrobe gets darker to match the tones outside. Luckily, Spring promotes vibrant, lively colors completely opposite those of winter. Now is the time to switch out that thick, dark comforter for new, light-colored bedding

Spring Clean and Declutter

We’re sorry to say that while Spring is a season of life, it also is the season of cleanliness. It’s time to get rid of all that dust that accumulated from artificial heat and poor air circulation during the winter. Spring cleaning also means eliminating all of the clutter that your home accumulated during the colder months when you dreaded the idea of walking your trash out to the curb.

Take a look at every room in your house to see what can be organized. The kitchen is a great place to start since it will require a deep clean to get rid of bacteria from cooking warm food all winter long. With kitchen organizers, you won’t have to throw anything in the trash; instead, you can simply organize your kitchen better to make it seem larger and give you some more of that much-needed counter space.

Switch Bedding

While you’ll want to change the color of your bedding, you’ll also want to take a look at the materials of your bedding. Many people switch to flannel sheets during the winter to reduce heating bills, but flannel sheets can make you too warm as the season begins to change and the weather gets warmer. To make sure your whole family sleeps better at night, change out your bedding for lighter materials like quilts or light blankets that can keep you warm but not too warm every night.

Rearrange Furniture

Now that you’ve done all of your cleaning, take a look at the way your furniture is arranged. Spring creates the need for openness. You’ll be opening your windows a lot more to let fresh air and sunlight in, and you’ll be opening your door more to friends and family now that the weather has cleared up. You can also open up your home.

By rearranging your furniture, you can create the illusion of more space in your home. You don’t have to knock down walls to create space. Instead, experiment with the placement of your furniture. If you move your bed 90 degrees and push it against a different wall, you may get more floor space. The same can be true with your sofa and armchairs, but you’ll never know until you see it for yourself.
