5 Romantic Ideas for Christmas Gifts

Buying christmas gifts is a challenge at the best of times. How can you be sure you are getting your friends and loved ones gifts they will actually enjoy? And how much should you spend? And which relatives is it okay to leave off the list this year? It is certainly a fraught task. But just to add to it, many of us also have to buy a gift for that special someone in our lives – and that can be even more difficult. No matter how long you’ve been together or how well you know each other, it can always be possible to hit that wall when you are trying to work out what to buy the person that matters the most to you.

Luckily, it is less difficult to come up with these suggestions when you aren’t so close to the situation – so what we’ve done here is create you a handy list of 5 suggestions for romantic gifts this christmas. Some are more obvious than others, and some are more low jey than others – so hopefully, whether you’ve been together 6 weeks, 6 months, or 6 years there is something here that will be right for your relationship. Let’s dive in!

  1. Personalised jewellery

Everyone knows that jewellery is a great go to gift if you aren’t sure what to buy a significant other – but, jewellery taste is very specific. Unless you’re lucky enough to have a great instinct for what jewellery your partner will enjoy, it can be better to err on the generic side. One way to spruce that up is to make this generic jewellery individual – for example by opting for a personalised necklace or bracelet, so the recipient still feels like this gift is just for them.

  1. Books

If someone isn’t a reader, this might not be the gift for them – but any book lover will always be delighted with books as a gift. If you’re confident of they’re reading taste, an exciting looking new release might be the route to take, but alternatively a special or hardback edition of a favourite book will certainly go down as one of the favourite presents of the day (especially if you give it a meaningful dedication).

  1. A trip away

For this one it’s probably best to wait until you’ve been together a while – but tickets to an experience together or even a weekend away can be an incredibly romantic gesture, and also gives you both something to look forward to after the festive season is over!

  1. Roses

Especially at the beginning of a relationship, not only choosing the right gift but choosing the right level of gift can be tricky. So if hyou’re only in the early days, why not opt simply for a beautiful bunch of festive red or white roses to decorate the Christmas table! Although, if we’re honest, accompanying this with something extra (like jewellery as per tip 1) is a good idea.

  1. Chocolates

Maybe you aren’t a big gift giving couple, but you still want to do something special for your other half. Why not get them a really nice box of chocolates – it’s something that will make them feel thought of, but that they won’t have to find somewhere to store. Additionally, if you don’t think they’ve opted to get you anything, it can be easily passed off as a gift to share and save embarrassment all round!

Gift buying and giving is a joy, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t stressful – and only once in a while do we ever feel sure that we have bought a gift that is really right for the person it is intended for. This never feels more important than when buying for a significant other – so hopefully, something on this list sparked your christmas imagination and helped you buy something just right for them.
