A Simple Guide to Getting Your Home Back to Normal After a Renovation

If you live a minimalist lifestyle, a home renovation can be extremely disruptive, leaving your home messy and untidy for many weeks or even months. However, to return your home to a minimalist haven, or to start living a minimalist lifestyle after a home renovation, here are some of the top steps that you need to take to get your home back to normal.

Declutter

One of the key elements of minimalism is decluttering, and home renovations can often give you the perfect opportunity to do this. They can help you to re-evaluate your space and decide on the essentials that should return to their places within your home, and those which you do not need anymore. Not only this, but after your home has been decorated, you should remove any clutter, such as tools, that have been left around your home since the start of the remodelling process to make your home look as if the decorators were never there.

Hire a Waste Disposal Service

When you have had your home remodelled recently, you may find that you have more waste than you know what to do with, especially in terms of construction waste and excess building materials, as well as seemingly endless packaging. To prevent you from being stuck with a garage filled with wood and brick, you should consider hiring a waste disposal service. For instance, you can use Jordan Disposal to improve your disposal of the excess materials that would otherwise lay around your home for many months afterward.

Clean the Space

Once you have tidied up, you then need to consider cleaning your space. Renovation work can often leave your furniture and walls covered with a thin film of dust or flecks of stray paint. To polish your house up, you should wipe all of your surfaces down with polish or a wet cloth, dust all of your furnishings and research the best methods of removing stains from your walls and furnishings. However, to prevent this from occurring, you should always cover your furniture with dust cloths before you decorate.

Reinstate Your Possessions

Even those with minimalist houses will have possessions that they had to remove from their rooms for the building work to take place. Perhaps you have had to change the layout of your room, with furniture needing to be moved so that your decorators can freely access the part of your home that you want refurbished. Once everything is complete, you need to reinstate your possessions and fill your home with the pieces that you love. This can help your house to feel like a home again.

Get Some Fresh Air

Paint and the other substances that are used when you are remodelling your home can often be extremely pungent. To eradicate these smells from your home, you should open all of your windows to air your rooms and consider replacing the filters on your ventilation systems to make sure that they are working at their full capacity.
