3 Quick Tips on Finding Curtains to Match Your Style

It is amazing how often window dressing is overlooked when it comes to giving our home a bit of a facelift or a new look. Sometimes all it would really take is some new drapery to get the desired effect but instead, we opt to take the more expensive route of changing up just about anything else that can be changed up.

Not only could you save money by bringing in a new window dressing solution but you could also find the perfect icing on the cake for any other major changes that you have made to your rooms décor. With all that in mind, you might want to take a look at some simple tips that will go a long way to helping you make the right decision when it comes to the curtains of your room.

Consider Your Budget

Redecorating a room as you’ll probably know, can be quite expensive and of course, drapery is only going to add to that expense. However, drapery really doesn’t have to be that expensive if you know where to look. Custom curtains for example, really do not have to cost that much and even if the ones you want are a little expensive, you’re going to get far more value from them in terms of aesthetics than many other types of home improvements.

You’d be amazed at the effect that some freshly painted walls and some new curtains can have on a room. This really does not need to be that expensive and the end result can be extremely impressive.

Learn to be Brave

How man times have you been tempted to be bold by going for window dressings with a bit more color or distinct patterns before reverting to type and staying within your comfort zone? Sometimes it really pays to be brave as you’ve probably noticed if you’ve ever visited the home of a friend or relative that has tried something different.

While white or neutral colored curtains look great, clean, and safe, sometimes it feels great to break out of this comfort zone by going for something that will inject life and color into your room.

Get the Thickness Right

Choosing curtains is not just about how they look but also how they function. You will want to make sure that you get the right mix in terms of the amount of light you want to let in or filter. If you’re decorating a media room, for example, blackout curtains are going to be the best bet. While a living room would probably be ideal for opaque curtains that will block enough out while also allowing a bit of light through.

We’re confident that if you can follow those three tips above, you’ll have no trouble finding curtains that are the perfect match for your décor. They will be a goodcombination of cost, aesthetics, and functionality and will have your visitors green with envy whenhey see how much of an improvement that they have made to your home
