Interior Design Tips to Get Your Man Cave Ready for Football Season

Summer is just about over and football fans everywhere are cheering. It’s about that time to sit around the big screen and watch your favorite teams battle for the championship. As it’s nice to have a place to watch the games without distractions, a man (or woman) cave is the perfect setup.

It’s a place all to yourself where you can watch the games alone, with family, or friends. If you’re going to be ready in time for the big game, however, you should probably start getting things in order now. Below, is a look at some interior design elements that can really bring your man cave to life.

Clear Out Your Space

Spare rooms have a way of becoming the place where clutter accumulates. Before you start trying to design your man cave, it’s a good idea to clear out the space. Get rid of things you don’t need and clean the room from top to bottom.

Consider the Layout

Now that you have a clear room you’re ready to start thinking about the layout of your personal space. Think about the best area for watching the game, choose the appropriate wall to place the television, and consider an area for entertainment like a minibar or a gaming area. A few things to keep in mind as you consider the layout would be the positioning of the television. You don’t want to place it in front of a window as it can be easily viewed from the outside and make you a target for robbery. Placing it too close to a window will also add a bad glare to the screen. Once you’ve found a place for the television you may need to fiddle around with the positioning of the furniture to ensure that you have a decent view no matter where you sit.

Pick Your Furniture

Next up is selecting the furniture for your man cave. Since you’re going for comfort here, choosing plush seating arrangements is ideal. If you plan on watching the games alone, a comfortable reclining chair might suffice. However, if you often host events at your house, opt for something larger yet still comfortable like a sectional. You can also look for other furniture items that add comfort and style like an ottoman and a few side tables. If you’re on a tight budget, however, you can restore some of your old pieces to make them look like new.

Paint

Before your furniture arrives it’s a good idea to paint the walls. Since this is your personal space, it doesn’t necessarily have to flow with the rest of the decor in the house. So, feel free to get creative and think outside of the box. You could opt to paint the room in your favorite team colors or go with something neutral and simply purchase decor items to add a pop of color.

Select Entertainment

Outside of finding the perfect flat screen to watch the game on, you’ll also want to have other forms of entertainment in your man cave. A common idea is to choose a gaming table such as a pool or foosball. If you’re a drinker, you might also want to consider adding a mini bar to the mix. You’ll need a mini-fridge, a bar stand, and a few stools. You might also want to grab some cigars or vape kits if you enjoy a good smoke while watching television. You can order them in large qualities online and learn how vapes work so you can show off and enjoy a good smoke with your friends and family.

Accessorize

After getting the furniture positioned the way you want it you’re ready to add some character to your man cave. Here’s where home decor accessories come into place. You’ll need a few traditional or standing lamps for extra light, perhaps an area rug if you have hardwood floors, some photos or artwork for the walls, a few throw pillows for the couch or chair, and any other elements you’d like to add to the space. If you’re really into football, you might consider going with that theme throughout the room. You can find lamps, flags, posters, chair covers, area rugs, decals, and a bunch of other items with your team logo on it to really bring the football theme to life.

Man (or woman) caves are an ideal solution for football fans who like to watch the game without any interruptions. It can also be used for relaxing or entertaining. With just a few short weeks until the start of the season, you don’t have much time to get prepared. Hopefully, these easy and affordable ideas have given you some inspiration to put together a personal space you’ll find yourself wanting to stay in forever.
